Dancing and Fencing Gear
July 23rd, 2008 by admin
Part of what makes fencing such a cool sport is the stance.
After all, here you stand, clad in your fencing gear, all white except for the face mask, and your back is perfectly straight.
If you fence right-handed, your epee (or foil or saber) is in that hand, and your left arm is generally bent with your left hand on your hip or nearby, and you begin. It’s very much like dancing, really.
The main difference, of course, is that generally when one dances, one can’t slice their dancing partner into ribbons, and who would want to do that anyway? Seriously, though, fencing is a graceful ballet-like sport.
