Verticle wind turbine - easy energy

One of the advantages to a vertical wind turbine is that it can be placed close to the ground and does not require a free standing base.
With this type of wind power, a hill, pass or tree line because it can pick up the winds channelled at those types of locations. It is also going to stand up to high winds better than any other type of turbine.
However, the disadvantages are that it can only produce about half of the energy of the other types of turbines and it must be installed on a flat space of ground.
