Crazy Dog

I have a boxer puppy that I rescued from the shelter about 3 months ago. I recently moved out of state and my dog is showing some really crazy behavior. Granted, he is a boxer and he has always been a little crazy, but this is extreme. He has never been aggressive but now it seems he is showing a little tendencies that are scaring me. I have bought a crate and want to start putting him in it but I want to make sure that he does not think it is for punishment. When crate training puppys how do you train so that they think of it as a reward instead of a punishment?
