BPH or enlarged prostate is an extremely common health issue that afflicts 50% of males over the age of 50. However, not all men who develop enlarged prostate symptoms need medical treatment or surgery. Enlarged prostate is completely nonmalignant, or to put it simply non-cancerous and in no way is an indication of prostate cancer.
Some common enlarged prostate symptoms include slow passing of urine, frequent urination and sometimes difficulty in starting the flow or urination. More severe symptoms include infection of the urinary tract and sometimes even urethra blockage in serious cases. The last one can prove to be injurious to the kidneys and thus, is a medical emergency.
