What causes chilblains?
July 11th, 2010 by admin
There are a number diseases which could impact the circulation in response to cold temperature. One of the more common of them are chilblains. They most normally occur on the feet, but sometimes occur in the hands and have been seen to occur on the nose as well as the ears. The reason is really a too rapid change from cold temperatures to warm temps. Normally the tiny blood vessels need time in order to open in response to warming. In a chilblain they do not open up quickly enough in order to bring nutrition to the cells and move aside waste material. This initiates an inflamation reaction which eventually evolves to the chilblain.
