To All The Desktops In My Life

Desktops came and went but they’ve all been part of my life. I had the first of my desktops (台式电脑 in Chinese(FYI)) back in 1995. My Mom gave it to me as a birthday gift and it helped me through the rest of college years. I spent countless nights with it to do my thesis.
But as technology develops at a fast pace, I have to upgrade to new desktops every now and then. There was the first desktop that I was able to purchase myself. Then, there was the desktop that I used when I did my dissertation in my post-grad studies. And the list goes on.
Maybe the most memorable of my desktops is the one that I had when I met my husband. We met online and became friends. One day, he visited me and it was love at first sight.
We’ve been married for ten years and had a couple of adorable kids. Desktops went in and out of our lives as we have to upgrade to a new model to keep up with the changing trends and with the demands of work.
